ScanLeap Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ScanLeap ("ScanLeap," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the ScanLeap mobile application ("App"), available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

We collect very little information and want you to understand exactly what information is collected and how it is used.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Summary

• ScanLeap does not operate its own backend server.
• Firebase, operated by Google, is the only infrastructure used by the App.
• We only collect information necessary for authentication.
• Your scanned documents remain on your device.
• Document scanning, cropping, enhancement, and object detection occur locally on your device.
• Ads are provided through Google AdMob.
• An optional Google Drive backup feature may be introduced in a future release.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in using Google, Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In may provide:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your profile picture (if available)
• A Firebase-generated unique account identifier

This information is used only to identify your account and maintain access across sessions.

2.2 Guest Mode

If you choose "Continue as Guest," no personal information is collected. Firebase creates an anonymous identifier that is not linked to your identity.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect, store, upload, or access your scanned documents or images.
• Camera, gallery, and storage permissions are used only to provide scanning and file management functionality on your device.
• The contents of files accessed through these permissions are not transmitted to ScanLeap.

2.4 Optional Google Drive Backup (Upcoming Feature)

ScanLeap includes a Google Drive integration that is currently marked as "Coming Soon."

When released and enabled by you:

• The App will request Google's drive.file permission.
• This permission allows ScanLeap to access only files it creates.
• The App cannot browse, modify, or delete other files in your Drive.
• Files are uploaded directly from your device to your Google Drive account.
• ScanLeap does not receive or store copies of uploaded files.
• Access may be revoked at any time through your Google Account settings.

3. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used only to:

• Authenticate users
• Maintain user sessions
• Separate user accounts and guest sessions
• Provide customer support when requested

We do not sell personal information.

4. Advertising

ScanLeap displays advertisements through Google AdMob.

Google may collect information including:

• Advertising identifiers
• IP address and approximate location
• Device and application information
• Advertisement interaction data

This information is collected and processed by Google under its own privacy policies.

Account information managed through Firebase Authentication is stored on Google's infrastructure.

ScanLeap does not maintain its own server or database and does not store copies of scanned documents outside your device.

No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Data Retention and Your Choices

• Signed-in users: Account information remains while the account exists.
• Guest users: Data remains associated only with the device installation.
• Account deletion requests may be submitted using developer contact information listed on the app store page.
• Google Drive permissions may be revoked at any time from your Google Account settings.

8. Children's Privacy

ScanLeap is not directed toward children under 13 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. International Data Transfers

Because Firebase infrastructure is operated globally by Google, account information may be processed or stored outside your country.

Google applies safeguards described in its own privacy and data processing policies.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational changes.

Updates will be reflected by changing the Effective Date at the top of this page.
